The Anthroposophic Medicine in Brazil is still little known and accessible to the general public. Only in some cities, there are anthroposophic doctors, and the majority of them practice in private offices or clinics.
For an effective change in this scenario, it is necessary to have more doctors with training in anthroposophic medicine, a course offered by the Regional branches affiliated with the Brazilian Association of Anthroposophic Medicine. One of the highly active Regional branches in this movement is the one in Minas Gerais, which, in the last 4 years, has offered 3 basic courses and 2 medical courses (in partnership with the Regional branches of Pernambuco and Rio Grande do Sul), in addition to the course in Pedagogical and School Medicine.
In addition, in order for more people to have access to both medical consultations and complementary therapies, it is necessary that the consultations have a lower value than those commonly practiced.
The project aims to improve old initiatives of ABMA-MG, such as supporting the training of new doctors, especially those who can work within the Brazilian Unified Health System (SUS), and expanding the didactic-social outpatient clinic. Additionally, it aims to increase the availability of anthroposophic therapies (therapeutic eurythmy, artistic therapy, and rhythmic massage) and initiate new partnerships with neighboring communities such as Vila Acaba Mundo and Cafezal, as well as with the Public Defender’s Office in the area of Women’s Violence. An important initiative being created is a new care facility for the school community (parents, teachers, staff, and their families) who, due to financial constraints, cannot afford healthcare for themselves and their families through private clinics.
