There was no training course in Therapeutic Education and Social Therapy in the North and Northeast regions of Brazil. For professionals wanting to train in this area, the closest location was São Paulo. However, considering the social realities of the North and Northeast, covering tuition, airfare, and accommodation costs to travel to the Southeast or South represented a barrier for many professionals seeking this vital training, especially as Waldorf schools are increasingly sought after by families of children and young people with disabilities and learning difficulties.
The Project
To address the lack of professionals in this field, the 1st Course for Expanding Knowledge in Therapeutic Education and Social Therapy in the Northeast began in mid-2022. Scheduled to conclude in 2024, the program will enable health and education professionals to enhance their knowledge and provide therapeutic support and social therapy to individuals with disabilities and/or learning difficulties in the region. The course is held at the Escola Waldorf Rural Turmalina, a partner of the project.
The Impact
Training of qualified professionals to work with children and young people with disabilities and learning difficulties
Access for individuals with disabilities in the North and Northeast to services tailored to their needs
Creation of a network of professionals to support individuals with disabilities through an expanded anthroposophical perspective
Encouragement of initiatives such as schools or institutions focused on this type of care
