The Challenge

The difficulties that the indigenous communities present in the continuity of their cultures, where many times they do not receive enough governmental resources to guarantee this right, forces them to put their children to work for tourism from a very early age, damaging the experience of their own childhood. Due to the pandemic, we saw the need to expand even more our practical work to a therapeutic work. We realized that children now need not only the healthy movement indicated for each anthropological phase, but also help to reintegrate them into society.

The Project

This project seeks to expand the work of the Circus School to work not only on the students’ corporality in classes based on Anthroposophy, but also to offer therapeutic care through partnerships formed with professionals in Curative Pedagogy and students in the trainings of the Brazilian Association of Anthroposophical Medicine. The intention is to offer a space for the students to regain confidence in themselves after a long period of social isolation. Another action of the project is to take the teachers of the Circus School to the rural zone of Corumbau/BA for a work that will be carried out in partnership with Refazenda Association, offering classes and workshops of artistic sensitization to the locals. And, finally, to equip the room where the Circus School classes take place, offering a cozy environment prepared to meet the current motor demands of the students.

The Impact

The circus classes provide a warm and safe environment that helps the children to rescue and improve their motor skills. With the therapeutic observation through the eyes of the teachers in partnership with ABMA students, each student will be evaluated individually and each family will receive observations and therapeutic indications
