BIODYNAMIC AGRICULTURE NETWORK – TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE, TRAINING AND SUPPORT FOR CERTIFICATION FOR AGRARIAN REFORM SETTLERS AND FARMERS IN SP, MG AND PR

Training in biodynamic agriculture, seed production and certification for land reform settlers
One of the great challenges for the establishment of organic and biodynamic agriculture is the limited choice in the market of native seeds adapted to organic cultivation and local production characteristics. With the conventional vegetable seed market focused on the production of hybrids, which require intensive management of agrochemicals, there are few organic seed options available for purchase. Another challenge is the process of converting products to organic and Demeter certification.
The Project
The project aims to provide continued technical assistance, training in biodynamics, seed production, production processing, and support for biodynamic certification for agrarian reform settlers and family farmers, with emphasis on new groups and continued support for the groups that are already being served by the institution.
The Impact
With the rescue, conservation and production of native seeds and seedlings of vegetables, grains, medicinal herbs and Non-conventional Edible Plants (PANC), it is hoped to improve the food and nutritional security of consumers. It is also intended to strengthen the participation of women settlers and increase the number of farmers in the agroecological/biodynamic transition, giving access and consolidating new markets
