For all the socio-environmental issues affecting our current Western society, there exists a worldview and way of interacting with others (other forms of life or nature) that objectifies them, distancing us from our true capacity for understanding and living participation in the world. Few references manage to lead to real transformation and point to possible paths beyond critiques of the prevailing model. Moreover, many seminal works for such an endeavor are not available in Portuguese, increasing the difficulty of accessing the knowledge necessary for our times, such as “Thinking Like a Plant” by Craig Holdrege, founder of the Nature Institute.
The Project
With the goal of breaking the language barrier and democratizing access to the book “Thinking Like a Plant”—the main reference for the Schumacher School Brazil in applied Goethean science, particularly focusing on the development of living thinking and the socio-environmental transformation needed for today’s societal challenges—the institution will translate, edit, launch, and publish it in Portuguese in both printed and digital formats, at an affordable price, with copies sent for free to public schools and universities.
The Impact
Living thinking, surpassing object-based thinking
Transformation in the way of acting in the world
Access for at least a thousand people who otherwise would not have access to the book due to the language barrier
Donation of 100 copies to libraries of public schools and universities
Offering courses and webinars focused on educators (Waldorf and other pedagogies)
