The location where the Association was established 26 years ago is situated at the extreme south of São Paulo, in the Parelheiros district, within a complex social context of poverty and lack of prospects, facing numerous challenges: abnormal population growth with a predominance of children, the second-largest municipal district in terms of land area with the lowest Human Development Index (HDI), high rates of femicide, domestic violence, and adolescent pregnancy, among others.
The Project
Since its foundation, the Association has represented one of the few socio-educational and community support structures in the region. It currently serves the children of the first kids welcomed into the institution through a Waldorf Kindergarten (for children aged 3 to 7) and an after-school program (for children aged 8 to 13). Most of the staff members are residents of the community who have developed their professional careers within the institution. The team’s efforts aim to provide children with the opportunity to experience something different from the reality of poverty and neglect they face daily.
The Impact
Increased capacity to serve 15 children per classroom with 2 educators in each
Membership in FEWB (Brazilian Federation of Waldorf Schools)
Training for educators in Waldorf Pedagogy
Revitalization of the pedagogical team
Development and implementation of the Political-Pedagogical Plan
Holistic and healthy development of children according to their age group
